A 19th century mahogany gothic open armchair in the manner of James Wyatt, the top rail as a gothic arch with quatrefoil tracery below, three vertical reeded splats, stuffover seat and reeded legs, 56cm wide, the back 98cm high

Provenance: Chilcombe House, Dorset. Formerly the property of Bruce Whineray, a member of the family, collector and author of 'Victorian Furniture', R.W. Symonds and BB Whineray, Country Life Limited, London, 1962

A pair of chairs with similar stylistic elements attributed to Wyatt were sold by Dreweatt Neate, 'The Remaining Contents of Donnington Grove, Newbury', 1991
